Leadec on the road to sustainability at Audi Hungaria

Győr, Hungary, 2/24/21 - Leadec’s service specialists are now on the road with an electrically powered vehicle on the plant premises when ensuring energy supply and technical operations at Audi Hungaria. Leadec is launching the modernization of its fleet in Hungary to contribute to CO2-neutral production.

The first e-car at the Audi site, a VW ID.3, was handed over to Ferenc Dákai, Managing Director of Leadec Hungary, by Gábor Szabó, Manager Corporate Protection and Real Estate at Audi Hungaria, and Zoltán Radnóti, CEO of Porsche Győr.

“It is extremely important for our customers to limit the environmental impact of their production and to conserve natural resources,” explained Ferenc Dákai, Managing Director of Leadec Hungary, at the handover ceremony. “We support them in this by using cars with electric drives among numerous other measures. We chose the VW ID.3 because it is ideal for the short distances on the plant premises and at the same time can cover a distance of 400 kilometers on a single charge. Porsche Győr, Leadec Hungary’s fleet management partner, procured the vehicle for us at short notice.”

Gábor Szabó, Manager Corporate Protection and Real Estate at Audi Hungaria, emphasized: “Environmental protection and sustainable development are important strategic goals of Audi Hungaria. We have anchored our resolutions and concrete corporate goals in this area in our Mission:Zero program.” As part of this program, Audi Hungaria has been operating CO2-neutrally since 2020. Climate protection and the use of renewable energies are of particular importance to us. We are pleased that Leadec is supporting us as a partner in achieving our goals.”

Ferenc Dákai briefly presented Leadec’s sustainability program. The company is committed to sustainability and also supports its customers in making their production more environmentally friendly. To achieve its sustainability goals, Leadec Hungary has already replaced all its forklifts with electric models and will reduce CO2 emissions by another 15 percent by 2025.

The protection of flora and fauna is a priority at all operating sites in Hungary. Together with its customers, Leadec regularly sponsors trees; currently, more than 1,000 trees are being “looked after.” The company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental protection is also reflected in the international certificate on the protection of natural water resources in accordance with European legal requirements, which has already been integrated into the company’s service processes.

Leadec has been working for Audi Hungaria since 1994. Around 300 Leadec employees take care of energy supply and technical facility management at the premises which cover an area of more than five square kilometers and comprise an engine and vehicle plant. However, their work is not limited to technical services: Looking after the beehives and insect hotels, which are spread over an area of three square kilometers on the plant premises, is also part of their duties.

In total, around 700 Leadec employees in Hungary ensure with their services that the production processes in the customers’ factories run smoothly and that all the necessary materials are available.
