30 years of AVI – 30 years of automation full of ideas

Hoyerswerda, 01/20/22 – In 1992, AVI GmbH was founded as an engineering office in Hoyerswerda. 30 years later, the three employees have grown to more than 50. Today, the former start-up from Lusatia is part of the Leadec Group and supports customers worldwide with automation solutions and industrial IT.

Rooted in the region, working worldwide

Wherever the projects take the customers, AVI is there too. The company is proud to have completed projects on every continent: semiconductor factories in Asia, a solar cell production facility in the USA, a bauxite handling terminal in West Africa, dozens of projects in Europe and hundreds in Germany. At the same time, AVI is firmly anchored in Central Germany with its two sites in Hoyerswerda and Leuna.

“The end-to-end digitization of production processes and the ever-increasing volumes of data are presenting companies with major challenges. We recognized these at an early stage and can help them with our experience and our self-developed IT solutions to ensure that production runs optimally,” says Frank Seifert, who together with Mirko Wittek and Andreas Rzezacz manages AVI GmbH.

Above all, operators of complex industrial plants or infrastructure supply systems rely on AVI’s expertise in planning individual control and automation solutions. Long-standing customers include, for example, LEAG, ArcelorMittal and Kronospan. In addition, AVI supplies turnkey solutions for machine and plant manufacturers to match the technical challenge.

Setting the course for the future

Since the end of 2020, AVI GmbH has been a company of the Leadec Group, a leading service specialist for the factory with 20,000 employees worldwide. Leadec has strengthened its know-how of solutions for the control and integration of production processes in Industry 4.0 with AVI and can use this at around 350 locations worldwide. The joint expertise provides customers with even better support in automating and digitizing their production processes and making them more efficient.

“Together, we offer our customers a holistic concept for digitization along the entire life cycle of the factory. We know the requirements on the shop floor and combine them with intelligent IoT platforms to make production fit for Industry 4.0. With our own solutions such as the Leadec.os platform and the IoT Home Cloud, in which machine data is recorded and evaluated, we offer our customers significant added value,” explains Managing Director Andreas Rzezacz, who also heads the Production IT Business Unit at Leadec.

AVI GmbH will celebrate its 30th anniversary with customers and friends in the summer of 2022 at the Knappenrode energy museum with cross-industry presentations and a celebration. “This is an iconic place for us, because when we founded AVI, the first orders came from the mining industry. In order to be directly in the vicinity, we moved into offices in the Schwarze Pumpe district. Thirty years later, we are still working for our customers from the early days and supporting many others with our solutions on the way to the factory of the future,” explains Managing Director and co-founder Mirko Wittek.
