New maintenance contract for engine production & assembly lines

Leadec wins contract for the complete maintenance of engine production and assembly lines at new engine plant in Poland

Stuttgart/Gliwice, Poland, 3/11/19 - Leadec has landed a major contract at new plant in Jawor, Poland doing the complete maintenance of engine production and assembly lines.

Around 1,000 employees will produce four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in the new engine plant. They will be supported by up to 220 Leadec employees, who will take care of production equipment maintenance. Leadec has decades of expertise in production maintenance and is responsible for a variety of services at more than 30 engine plants worldwide.

Leadec has been involved in the planning of the new plant since 2017, preparing, among other things, a production infrastructure maintainability concept. For this purpose, the Leadec experts were involved from the design discussion with the plant manufacturers to the machine acceptance at the plant. Leadec has extensive knowhow in this area, working for many years at Mercedes plants worldwide including Stuttgart, Tuscaloosa, Sindelfingen, Kecskemet and Beijing.

“Our international team has contributed consultancy and manufacturing engineering services right from the start. Since we are in charge of production equipment maintenance at the Mercedes plants in Kölleda and Beijing, we were able to transfer our experience to Jawor. The team started work straight away, prepared employees for the upcoming maintenance activities and supported start-up and equipment installation operations,” explains Alexander Bonk, Managing Director at Leadec Management Central Europe BV & Co. KG.

With sites in Gliwice, Polkowice and Poznań, Leadec has provided services in Poland for 20 years. Already today, around 650 Leadec employees provide services to about 30 OEMs and first tier suppliers under framework contracts in Poland. The focus is on technical maintenance and cleaning as well as in-plant logistics directly at the customer’s site.
