Five Years of Leadec.os – Driver For Digital Transformation

Leadec.os has been standardizing and digitizing Leadec’s service processes across systems for 5 years. Michael Schenk, Global Head of Business Applications, looks back and talks about milestones and the impact of the platform on the whole company.

Mr. Schenk, congratulations on 5 years of Leadec.os! Looking back: what were the main reasons for developing such a platform back then?

In 2018, we kicked off by examining how we could offer our customers maximum transparency regarding the provision of services. Until then, we mainly had isolated solutions and therefore had to combine various local IT solutions in order to reduce redundant systems - and the corresponding administrative effort. The idea for a central platform that combines all of this was born.

And today, Leadec.os has become an integral part of Leadec’s everyday life.

What have been important milestones in the history of Leadec.os so far?
Without a doubt, the actual go-live on June 24, 2019, at our US site in Spartanburg. After the agile development of the platform, it was exciting to see how the solution performed in Leadec’s day-to-day operations. Another milestone was the establishment of our Leadec.os team in 2021. Having this expertise in-house also gives us flexibility for the necessary ongoing system development.

In the same year, we took third place in the Digital Leader Award with Leadec.os. This was a great accolade for our team. Today, over 50% of our entire business runs via Leadec.os: 2,000 users at 130 sites use it to process 3,000 orders.

To what extent has Leadec.os changed the entire company?

Leadec.os has brought us standardized terminology, particularly in the operational area. Standardized terms for services, error messages or tasks, for example, create a common understanding of the content of our services. At the same time, the perception of data in our business has changed. Today, there is a much greater awareness of the importance of data and its proper preparation to perform the actual activity in the best possible way.

What can we expect from Leadec.os in the future?

A huge topic is the further development of the platform, for example with artificial intelligence. Large language models should help to optimize ticket processing or better interpret existing data.
