Using production data intelligently, making processes more reliable, and implementing new digital services faster – this is exactly why Leadec developed the Industrial Cloud. In this interview, Astrid Lichtl-Dengel, Manager of the AI Competence Center at Leadec, talks about the idea behind the platform, the collaboration of international teams, and why the cloud is much more than just a technical infrastructure.
Leadec Industrial Cloud: Digital Power for the Production of Tomorrow
Ms. Lichtl-Dengel, what exactly is the Leadec Industrial Cloud?
The Leadec Industrial Cloud is our central platform for digital solutions in manufacturing. It connects machines and equipment at our customers’ plants with Leadec’s digital services.
In doing so, we collect real-time data – for example, on machine conditions, consumption levels, or locations – and make it available for applications. For our teams, this primarily means greater transparency, more efficient processes, and stable production operations at our customers’ facilities.
The key aspect is the platform concept: instead of having many individual solutions, we have created a shared foundation on which different applications can run. These include, for example, our LARA solution, vibration monitoring, and TwinFleet for industrial truck management.

What makes the platform technologically unique?
Above all, the fact that we developed it entirely in-house. This gives us the freedom to use the platform exactly as required for our customers and our strategy. At the beginning of 2024, our Production IT team started the development together with colleagues from our IT & Innovation Hub in India and the Smart Factory Group. We worked fully agile, with regular feedback and numerous adjustments.
This also means being willing to discard ideas and rethink them when necessary. In the end, this open mindset proved to be a key success factor.
Today, the Industrial Cloud consists of a total of 31 core components. That may sound highly technical at first, but above all it demonstrates the amount of expertise and development effort behind it. The major advantage of our in-house solution is its flexibility.
What benefits do customers experience in their day-to-day operations?
In manufacturing, every minute counts. Downtime is costly, especially when it is unplanned. That is why the primary goal is to identify risks early and keep processes stable.
In addition, the Industrial Cloud enables new digital solutions to be implemented much more quickly because the infrastructure is already in place. Teams no longer need to build every project from scratch – they can get started right away. In production environments that are evolving ever more rapidly, particularly with the growing role of AI, this gives us a significant advantage.
And that is exactly what will be decisive in the future: speed, the ability to learn, and the capability to bring innovations into practice quickly.
We no longer see the Industrial Cloud merely as a technical platform. Step by step, it is evolving into a digital ecosystem for industrial services. In this way, we sustainably support both our own digital transformation and that of our customers while at the same time safeguarding our competitiveness.
