“Sustainability is a global task for us. We are not only working to reduce our own ecological footprint, but also support our customers with sustainable services on their way to having a carbon-neutral factory and achieving their sustainability goals. The EcoVadis certification is an important step in providing transparency to our customers, partners and stakeholders and in identifying optimization potential,” says Markus Glaser-Gallion, CEO of the Leadec Group.
With an overall score of 60 points and a percentile of 80, Leadec falls into the “Outstanding” category of the EcoVadis sustainability rating. The high standard at Leadec is reflected, among other things, in a structured and proactive approach to sustainability, comprehensive policies, innovative solutions, and transparent reporting.
The EcoVadis rating agency focuses on the four areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The rating helps buyers and suppliers obtain reliable indicators of the sustainability performance and development of their business partners. To date, more than 90,000 companies have been rated.
Measurable improvements in all areas
Since 2019, Leadec has been assessed annually by EcoVadis in terms of sustainability and has since steadily improved in all areas. Particularly great progress has been made in the areas of environment and sustainable procurement. The good result in the area of environment reflects the continuous work to further reduce CO2 emissions, for example by switching to renewable energy sources and internal training on energy and resource efficiency.
By now, more than 70 percent of Leadec’s top 100 suppliers have committed to the Leadec Business Partner Code of Conduct and the Sustainability Policy for Suppliers. The introduction and strengthening of supplier due diligence and a risk assessment process, which are of particular importance in view of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act coming into force on January 1, 2023, have also been rated positively.
Digitization in occupational health and safety is a particular priority at Leadec. In 2021, software was introduced worldwide to harmonize and standardize all HSEQ (health, safety, environment and quality) activities and improve transparency. At 1.6, the important key figure for lost-time accidents was again significantly better than the industry average.
